The Governor’s Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service…encourages volunteerism for everyone from youth to seniors to people with disabilities; promotes volunteerism for disaster preparedness and response; and helps to strengthen and expand Volunteer Centers in Florida.  Volunteer Florida  has provided strong support for the expansion of Volunteer St. Lucie.

With the support of the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners, the staff of Community Services, Emergency Services, and the Information Technology departments, Volunteer St. Lucie has implemented an online registration system that provides a database of volunteers interested in a variety of volunteer opportunities, including disaster preparedness and response needs.  The database is expected to improve the ability to manage volunteers before, during and following any local disaster.
