Volunteer Month April 2012

Posted by: | Comments (0)

April is traditionally designated as Volunteer Month in Florida and National Volunteer Week runs from April 18th through 24th. This year, as in the the past two years, St. Lucie County, the City of Ft. Pierce, and the City of Port St. Lucie recognized local volunteer’s efforts through proclamations presented to the Volunteer St. Lucie. Cris Adams, United Way Vice President of Community Impact, proudly accepted the City of Ft. Pierce  proclamation (click here for agenda item 6) filling in for Lana McClain, Coordinator for Volunteer St. Lucie.

Our local  nonprofits and governmental entities recognize the value ofvolunteers and how they advance the mission of each organization.  Volunteers are the heart and hands of our organizations.  Share your volunteer stories.

Hurricane Season Preparation

Posted by: | Comments (0)

There is no time when volunteer resources are more appreciated than in time of disaster. Our hurricane season, quiet until now, is not yet over.  Volunteer St. Lucie works with St. Lucie County Division of Emergency Management, as well as with many of our local agencies, to respond to local emergencies or catastrophic events.  OUR roll is to refer volunteers who will assist in preparation, response and long term recovery in the event of disaster.

YOUR role is to register now.  Be sure you give us clear contact information.  Check the appropriate boxes under Job Interests.  Give us relevant information in the Additional Information box.  Special skills, talents, licenses; equipment you will lend or provide as part of your volunteer services; any other information you think would help us in making an appropriate referral.

THERE’S NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT TO REACH OUT A HAND.
